Navigating Uncertain Times: Insights from MMC+Tech 2025

I recently had the pleasure of joining Kiki L'Italien on Association Chat during the MMC+Tech ASAE conference to discuss the uncertainties facing associations in 2025. The conversation revolved around the pressing questions on every association executive’s mind: Will members return and renew? How does artificial intelligence fit into our operations? And how can we stay true to our mission amidst these changes?

Having spent over a decade in association management before joining Diamax, I’ve seen firsthand the evolving landscape. The biggest uncertainty right now is whether members will come back and how AI will transform our roles. AI offers incredible potential, but it also brings the challenge of maintaining a reliable "center of truth" within our organizations.

In our discussion, I emphasized that while AI is a powerful tool, associations must remain beacons of accurate, trustworthy information. It’s crucial to leverage technology thoughtfully and ensure that our associations remain the trusted hubs of knowledge in our industries.

Looking ahead, there’s a bright spot of hope. Associations are as relevant as ever, but they need to evolve continuously. We can't rest on our laurels. Instead, we must embrace new technologies and ensure we have the right people in the right roles. By doing so, we can remain the central, trusted resource for our members and lead with confidence.
