Biography

Derek Rector leads Diamax, a Washington DC digital strategy and innovation consultancy, and Milieu, a B2B SaaS platform supporting directories and libraries that are online communities.

A digital innovator with more than 23 years of new media and information systems experience, Derek founded Diamax in 1998 as a digital consultancy & innovation lab. He has designed and produced more than 200 custom solutions, prototypes, and products for organizations such as the World Bank, the National Academy of Engineering, the National Academy of Medicine, the National Academy of Sciences, the InterAcademy Partnership, the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association, the Association of the United States Army, West Point, the UN World Food Programme & FAO, the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture, the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America, the Pipeline Research Council International, and the Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association. As a digital strategist, he has advised senior executives at leading associations, think tanks, educational institutions, and international development organizations.

Prior to Diamax, Derek began his career at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space, and the World Bank. Derek holds a BSc in agriculture and environmental biology from McGill University.

Derek and his family live in Vienna Virginia.
